Free Thanksgiving turkeys and baskets of canned goods will be given away to local families on Saturday, Nov. 21 beginning at 4 p.m. at Bright & Early Discoveries, 608 Northville Turnpike, Riverhead.

A Thanksgiving giveaway event tomorrow evening at Tyre Lodge will be handing out fresh turkeys and baskets of food to local families.

LIR Clothing, founded by Riverhead native Anthony Harris, hosts the back-to-school event in the neighborhood where Harris grew up, giving away school supplies, backpacks and LIR T-shirts.

Local children were treated to a special Christmas party yesterday courtesy of LIR Clothing, Tyre Lodge and Vines and Hops on East Main Street, where Santa Claus handed out more than 350 toys,

A Riverhead native with a heart for helping struggling families is working to make Christmas a bit brighter for those in need.

"When you make it, never forget where you came from.” That's the philosophy Riverhead native Anthony Harris, founder of LIR Clothing, lives by and one of his positive messages for area children. Each year Harris, who strives to be a positive role model for local kids, hosts a back-to-school party where he gives away backpacks, t-shirts and school supplies.
