Memorial Day

Today is a day of remembrance set aside to remember the 1.3 million people who gave their lives in military service to our country since 1775. There will be solemn ceremonies and a parade around Riverhead this morning to commemorate Memorial Day 2021.

Riverhead High School art teachers created a memorial poppy installation today at the site of the World War I monument on West Main Street today. It will remain on display through the holiday weekend.

The art installation, by ceramics and creative crafts students at Riverhead High Schoowill commemorate Memorial Day at the site of the monument on West Main Street, erected to honor the 304 Riverhead men who served in the U.S. military in World War I, including nine who did not return home.
