Riverhead Centre was required to comply with the town's 'Dark Skies' code by Dec. 31, 2017. It hasn't. And now officials are considering allowing the NYC company that bought the 50-acre property for $71 million last year to continue to pollute the night skies with bright light.

The off-price clothing and home fashions retail store, longtime tenant at the Roanoke Plaza shopping center is moving to the store formerly occupied by Christmas Tree Shops, at 1791 Old Country Road. 

The one-story commercial building on Route 58 that has been mostly vacant since Blockbuster closed its doors, is under new ownership and about to get facade and site improvements.

The owners of Tony’s Asian Fusion restaurants are eyeing the site of the Mattress Firm outlet store on Route 58 for a new Japanese restaurant.

Box Pickleball will have nine pickleball courts, a full restaurant and bar, a pro shop, and an area for cornhole, its owner says. The club is shooting for a May opening at its Route 58, Riverhead location.

The off-price retailer plans a spring opening in Riverhead, a company spokesperson told RiverheadLOCAL Friday.

Big Lots is closing its Riverhead location on Route 58. Signs announcing the store closing have gone up at the front entrance and workers holding signs announcing the closing were positioned on Route 58 today.

Sephora, the personal care and beauty products retailer, plans to open a store at Riverhead Centre on Route 58.

Today marked the end of an era for the Peconic Bay Diner on Route 58, as the Stavropoulos family, owners of the classic diner at the corner of Ostrander Avenue for the past 32 years, cease operation.
