The weather was cold and rainy and there was a driving wind that wouldn’t quit yesterday but the Blue Waves ran into another storm: the Ward Melville Patriots.

Ward Melville came to play and they pounded the Riverhead defense for nine goals in the first half, with Riverhead just able to muster two goals, both on free shots.

Riverhead had a difficult time passing in the driving rain, as well as setting up down low. The first half ended with the score 9-2. The second half was no better as Ward Melville added seven more goals to Riverhead’s two.

The rain-soaked game ended with Ward Melville on top 16-4.

Riverhead’s next home game is Thursday, April 6 at 4 p.m. against Pat-Med.
