A parked car outside the county center caught fire this afternoon.

The fire erupted in the engine compartment of a Buick Park Avenue parked outside the Evans K. Griffing County Center at about 2:15 p.m. Suffolk County sheriff’s deputies attempted to knock down the fire using fire extinguishers. Riverhead Fire Department responded and put out the flames with a water hose from an engine. No one was injured in the incident.
