A Flanders man was charged with DWI following a crash at the intersection of County Road 105 and Flanders Road last night.

Southampton Town Police said they received a report of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 105 and Flanders Road at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Upon investigation, officers responding to the scene of the crash determined one of the operators was intoxicated.

Rebin Chocon Hernandez, 28, of Flanders, was arrested and charged with two counts of Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanors), and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, (misdemeanor), police said. He was also issued a traffic summons for tailgating, police said.

Chocon was transported to Southampton Town Police Department Headquarters for processing and held overnight for arraignment, according to a police press release issued early this morning.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
