Fire district elections

Former Riverhead Police Chief David Hegermiller was elected to the board of commissioners of the Wading River Fire District this week, unseating incumbent commissioner Terrence Culhane. 

Wading River voters turned down a proposition authorizing the purchase of a $1.75 million truck. Jamesport voters said no to making the district treasurer an appointed post.

Fire district voters elect commissioners today. Wading River and Jamesport voters will determine ballot propositions as well.

Jamesport, Wading River and Manorville fire district voters cast ballots in four contested races yesterday.
