The community is invited to a free panel discussion on the topic of immigration at the Mattituck Presbyterian Church.

There was a full program at the Riverhead Anti-Bias Task Force “Social Justice Diversity Summit” Saturday morning, with more than a dozen panelists and presenters speaking about topics such as immigration policy, fair housing, hate crimes, bullying, gangs and criminal justice.

Local farmers, whose operations rely heavily on an immigrant workforce, told Rep. Lee Zeldin they are worried they won't have the labor they need to sustain their farms, vineyards and greenhouses. They want federal immigration reform to move forward.

A large crowd turned out to march for immigration reform and solidarity this afternoon in Hampton Bays in observance o "A Day Without Immigrants."

Local immigrants and supporters will participate in a national strike today as a way to peacefully protest the current anti-immigrant rhetoric, as well as a way to demonstrate the impact immigrants have on the local economy and society on a daily basis.

“People are frightened." After ICE enforcement actions arrested 41 people in New York City and the surrounding area last week, the North Fork immigrant community is on edge.

Riverhead Town Democrats voice their objections to President Trump's executive order in a letter to their congressman.

About 90 people from across the East End packed the Riverhead Free Library meeting room today to tell Rep. Lee Zeldin's aide what they thought of President Trump's immigration ban and Zeldin's support of it.

“I support the temporary entry restriction from certain nations until the administration, Congress and the American people know with confidence that any individual being granted admission does not pose a threat to our security,” Zeldin said.

Opposition to liberal immigration and refugee policies is quickly labeled racist, xenophobic and most especially Islamophobic. We are told that rational concern for our liberty and safety must not impede our commitment to diversity.
