Volunteers from National Gird beautified the Long Island Rail Road station in Riverhead on Friday, planting new shrubs and flowers to spruce up a neglected and littered area. 

Potholes in the deteriorated pavement along NY-25 in Calverton are being filled, but resurfacing won't take place until 2027, a State DOT spokesperson said. Update on roadwork planned for state roads in town.

National Grid plans to begin a new gas main installation project along a section of East Main Street in Riverhead next week. Traffic flow and parking will be impacted, officials said.

National Grid issued an urgent request to cut back on natural gas usage, citing interstate pipeline equipment problems caused by frigid weather and heavy holiday demand.
