Riverhead Little League held its 2023 opening day ceremonies Friday evening at Stotzky Park, where the league honored its longtime president, Jeremy Savio, who is stepping down after 10 years at the helm.

Batter up! Riverhead Little League baseball and softball registration is open until Feb. 26. Tryouts for Majors and Double A teams will take place March 4 and March 11.

The Riverhead Waves 9u travel baseball team won the Town of Brookhaven fall season championship in a playoff double-header under the lights last Friday night. Eleven of the team's 13 members were on the Riverhead Little League District 36 championship team this year.

Riverhead Little League's 11/12-year-old All Star team won the L.I. Championship Tuesday on a walk-off single by David Raynor, defeating Plainview 3-2. The boys are headed to the state tournament and need some help to defray the cost.
