2013 0114 cvs robbery

Two men held up the CVS pharmacy on Route 58 in Riverhead early this morning.

Riverhead Town Police said the pair entered the store shortly before 3:37 a.m., when CVS employees called police to report the robbery. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded cash.

They forced an employee to open the safe inside the store, which is open 24 hours. The suspects fled from the store on foot in a westerly direction, according to police. They took “an undetermined amount of money.”

The pair were described only as two males wearing hooded sweatshirts, masks and gloves, according to a news release issued by Riverhead Police this morning.

Police and the CVS store manager declined further comment this morning.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Riverhead Police detective division at 631-727-4500 ext. 289.
