Competitive paddling enthusiasts from across the tri-state region descended on downtown Riverhead for Saturday morning’s Paddle Battle LI on the Peconic River.
More than 50 paddlers competed in races ranging in length from 2.5 to 12 miles, aboard stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and canoes.

The event was a fundraiser for the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation and the East End Tourism Alliance. It was sponsored by the L.I. Aquarium, Peconic Paddler, Blue Point Brewing Company, L.I. Paddlers and Pepsi.
