The Latino community in Suffolk County is banding together to help the victims of the Volcán de Fuego (Volcano of Fire) in Guatemala that erupted Sunday, affecting more than 1.7 million people and leaving more than 100 dead, including several children, and at least 200 people missing, according to the authorities.
Below is a list of all collection centers on the East End, what items can be donated and how:
What kind of donations are needed?
1. Rice, any type of beans, flour, salt, sugar, oil and milk powder.
2. Canned products, pasta for soups, bottled water.
3. Personal hygene kits: soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, combs.
4. Cleaning kits: cleaning supplies and garbage bags.
5. Sanitary towels, detergent, disposable diapers for adults and children (all sizes).
6. Bedding: sheets, blankets, towels.
7. Underwear for children and adults (all sizes).
8. First Aid kits: bandages, hand sanitizer, etc.
