Shoreham-Wading River High School introduced the top academic students of the Class of 2018 to the board of education at its last meeting.
Christian Wesselborg os valedictorian and Calvin Schmalzle is salutatorian of the graduating class. High School Principal Frank Pugliese recited the impressive academic, athletic, musical and community accomplishments of both students and congratulated them on their future college studies. Wesselborg will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to major in biology and Schmalzle has enrolled at Clarkson University to study engineering.
Pugliese then alphabetically listed the students in the top 10 percent of the Class of 2018, noting that often a difference of a few hundredths of a point is what defines the top students, and he wanted to be certain they were all publicly recognized. The following students are in the top 10 percent of the Class of 2018:

Superintendent of Schools Gerard Poole congratulated the students and presented each one with an SWR School District commemorative pin.
