Two people were arrested on robbery charges last night after stealing $600 from a man on West Main Street near Griffing Avenue, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Jamar Q. Newkirk, 22, and and Kyisha M. Dozier, 30, both of Riverhead, were charged with second-degree robbery, police said in a press release late last night. Second-degree robbery is a class C felony under N.Y. Penal Law.

The victim reported the robbery at 7 p.m. Sunday. Police said Newkirk and Dozier were detained in the area while Riverhead detectives investigated. The victim identified both as the man and woman who robbed him, according to the release.

The victim sustained minor injuries during the robbery but did not require medical treatment.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about it to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
