Riverhead Town Police reported 127 criminal incidents and issued 86 criminal charges in April, according to a monthly crime report released by Police Chief David Hegermiller this month.

Police said someone stole a Polaris HO500 all-terrain vehicle from an unlocked barn at Spur of the Moment Farms at 451 Edwards Avenue during the overnight hours of May 15 to May 16. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-220-TIPS.

Riverhead Police detectives are investigating shots fired in the early morning hours of April 17 in the area of Oakland Drive South in Riverhead. 

The Riverhead Police is ramping up its enforcement to combat distracted driving from today through Monday, part of a statewide campaign to target drivers distracted by cell phone use.
