Snow delays

The Riverhead Central School District and town offices will have a two-hour delayed opening Monday morning. The National Weather Service warned motorists of black ice overnight and during morning commute.

Yesterday’s snowfall left roads and sidewalks covered with up to 4 inches of snow in some areas of Riverhead, Riverhead Highway Superintendent Mike Zaleski said this morning.

With temperatures dipping into the mid-20s tonight, snow and ice on local roads and sidewalks will make travel difficult in the early morning tomorrow.

Snow falling across the East End this morning will make road conditions slippery this morning, with total accumulations of two to five inches, possibly six inches in some spots. Schools across the North Fork will have a two-hour delayed opening.
