A reportedly suicidal man, who was “throwing oil filled bottles, holding a gasoline can with a rag inserted in the spout and brandishing a large knife,” was taken into police custody and brought to the hospital for evaluation after a three-hour standoff outside his home in the Riverwoods mobile home park in Riverside yesterday.

A stranded Harbor Seal pup that made its way out of the Peconic River using the fishway in Grangebel Park was rescued by the N.Y. Marine Rescue Center with the help of Southampton Town Police early Sunday morning.

A Riverside man was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on Route 105 and Flanders Road early this morning, when he was found in possession of heroin and cocaine, according to a Southampton Police press release.

Police said the cyclist was westbound on Flanders Road at about 9 p.m. when he entered the intersection with Route 105 and was struck by a southbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle had a green light, according to police.

Suffolk County Police are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the driver in a fatal hit and run crash in Riverside last week.

Police said 40-year-old male pedestrian was crossing the eastbound lanes of CR-94 at approximately 5:10 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck by an eastbound 2016 Ford Explorer.

A Flanders man is facing a felony weapon possession charge following an incident at a Flanders Road residence last night, Southampton Town Police reported this morning.

A woman who was rear-ended while stopped at an intersection by a vehicle whose driver left the scene followed him and got him to pull over. He was then arrested for driving while intoxicated, police said.

Southampton Town Police are seeking information about small child struck by a vehicle on Old Quogue Road in Riverside yesterday evening.
